About Gathering of Nations

The annual Gathering of Nations Powwow hosts more than 500 tribes from throughout the United States and over 200 from Canada, representing indigenous North American cultures in all their diversity. The yearly powwow features several related events, including the Indian Trader’s Market, Stage 49, and the annual Miss Indian World Pageant. With tens of thousands of attendees, the Gathering of Nations Powwow is the continent’s largest powwow and continues to enjoy a place among the year’s most important Native American cultural celebrations. Based at The University of New Mexico’s The Pit arena in Albuquerque, the Gathering of Nations Powwow includes an impressive array of American Indian dancers, musicians, and performers. In 2010, The Recording Academy awarded the GRAMMY for Best Native American Music Album to the producers of 2010 Gathering of Nations Powwow: A Spirit’s Dance. Committed to good business practices, Gathering of Nations, Ltd., is a member of the American Indian Chamber of Commerce of New Mexico, the Albuquerque Convention & Visitors Bureau, and the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce. In addition, Gathering of Nations sponsors a number of scholarships for Native American students at The University of New Mexico.
